Convocation FC mourns the sudden passing of Geoff Lambertsen.
The record shows that Geoff made his first appearance for Convocation in the Liverpool Old Boys League on January 26,1985. He went on to clock up 104 League appearance and is credited with 20 goals. In addition, there were innumerable friendly games before and after Geoff left to throw in his lot with Brian Holder’s Cavaliers. An integral part of the legendary Convocation midfield of the late 1980s, Geoff played in the Northern Cup final of 1988 and participated in the club’s first tour to Germany in 1991. His last appearance in Convocation colours was made on May 18, 2013, aged 61, as one of a multi-generational side that held a team of youthful tourists from Steinkirchen, southern Germany, to a hard-fought 2-2 draw.
Geoff was a football purist, a skilful player, trusted teammate and loyal friend. Rest in Peace.
